Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a community scheme to help prevent crime. It involves keeping an eye on each other's houses, watching out for older people and vulnerable people and calling the police if we see something suspicious. It does not involve street patrols! Working through Lisbane's two voluntary co-ordinators, the police will advice us on the best ways to improve our security and alert us and neighbouring Watch schemes in Comber and Ballygowan to possible new scams in our area. It sounds simple, but it works. The idea came from the US in 1982 and today there are more than 165 000 Neighbourhood Watch Schemes across the UK, covering up to 25% of households and bringing a significant reduction in crime. If you would like to be part of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme simply contact one of our two co-ordinators-George McCann on 02897 541489 or William McKeag on 02897 541288.
