The After School Club is a non- profit making organisation which provides a valuable child care service in the local community. It enables parents to go to work in the knowledge that their children are in a safe, stimulating and caring environment being looked after by qualified and experienced staff.
The Club is registered with Social Services to accommodate 16 children per day (ratio 8 children to 1 staff member). The Club operates daily during term time from 2pm until 6pm. Children are collected from school by staff in private or by taxi. Some children travel on the school bus and are met by a member of staff.
On arrival at the Club a wide range of activities await the children with the emphasis being on freedom of choice. Board games, k-nex, lego, crafts, junk art, painting, colouring in, sewing etc are but a few, and weather permitting, a range of physical activities outside are:-football, hockey, basketball, skipping etc. A snack is provided about 3.15 pm, mainly consisting of toast/pancakes and fruit. Some children then choose to do homework, most preferring to continue with activities.
A Holiday Scheme operates during Easter, July and August, Halloween and Xmas when we are open from 8.30 am. - 6 pm. A varied programme is planned which includes lots of interesting, educational and pleasurable cross community outings and trips. Children bring their own pack lunch and outings are by private car and Leslie Cooke's bus.
